New Projects

High Risk Youth Uncensored: An Educational Exchange iHuman has partnered with university-based researchers, strategically positioned community-based workers, and a number of youth at risk in a collaborative research project called High Risk Youth Uncensored. iHuman youth have developed a workshop series to educate service providers (e.g., police officers, lawyers, and group home staff) on strategies and considerations for working with youth at risk.

The workshops will provide opportunities for youth and service providers to address and identify needs in face-to-face encounters. Attendees will leave with effective tools that they can use to help youth, while the youth involved will develop useful life and employment skills. The workshops will also involve youth artwork, storytelling, and interactive forum-theatre scenes which will engage all those involved in a search for appropriate solutions.

Project partners include the University of Alberta, CS High Risk Unit, Criminal Defense Office, and The City of Edmonton.

Uncensored has delivered workshops in the past few months to: the Alberta School Boards Association; PONHA: Keepers of the Flame; University of Alberta Education and Counselling students; REACH Edmonton; a harm reduction conference; and an Aboriginal conference.
